Chemex Brew Guide
Clean, balanced pour-over for 6-cup Chemex brewer.
Chemex makes smooth, clean coffee for groups. Use medium-coarse grind. Scaled for 6-cup brewer.
Recipe:
30g coffee (medium-coarse, like fine playground sand), 500g water. Total brew ~5:00 min.
Prepare:
Place filter in 6-cup Chemex (3-layer side toward spout). Pour hot water (92-96°C) through to preheat and rinse. Discard from back.
Prepare coffee:
Measure 30g.
Grind medium-coarse. Add to filter. Press lightly with spoon to seat filter.
Bloom:
Zero scale, start timer. Pour 50g water evenly for bloom.
Main pour:
At 0:30 min, pour remaining 450g in slow spiral - center outward, intermittent pulses. Finish pour by 3:15 min.
Finish:
Let drip to ~5:00 min total. Discard filter.
Serve:
Pour immediately.
Notes:
Water 92-96°C avoids bitterness.
Spiral pour, no walls.
Adjust ratios and timing to match your coffee and taste.
